Hello Simon families! My name is Mrs. Yerk and I am thrilled to serve your child as his/her school librarian! I look forward to a year of learning and exploring in the Simon Library and helping him/her become an enthusiastic reader.

During library class we read a book or two and have an activity/craft based on the books we read. We learn the difference between fiction and nonfiction, we talk about authors and illustrators, and how to find books in the library. Each class then has time to find a book to check out from the library. Kindergarten may check out ONE book at a time. First and Second graders may check out TWO books at a time.

Please encourage your child to enjoy and take care of our library materials and return them the following week so they may check out a new book. Also, please enjoy the library books with your children!

My family and I live in Winnebago and I worked previously at Cherry Valley Public Library for over 20 years. I look forward to helping your students work towards a lifelong love of reading and learning.
